Character Education

We kicked off Character Education this month by discussing what "character" means and how we can demonstrate positive character this year.  This Friday, we will be having our Bullying Prevention Kick-off Day.  There will be an assembly in the morning featuring Tim Hanning with The Pro Kids Show.  He will also be returning for a program for the whole family on Friday evening from 6-7 pm.  We hope you can make it.  Here are some positive character trait people that students created in Character Education over the past week:

We are trying something new in art class this year.  At the beginning of most classes for grades 1-5, we will be having a time dedicated just for sketching.  Emphasis will be on drawing what you see.  By practicing our drawing skills weekly, there should be a noticeable development in each student's skills by the end of the year.  We tried this last year in 2nd grade, and the results were great.  Here are some car sketches from Mrs. Klein's and Mrs. Habas' 5th grade classes:
