Raindrops Keep Falling on Our Heads

Kindergarteners have been continuing with their unit on weather art.  Recently they created self-portraits of themselves standing under umbrellas in the rain.

Kindergarteners also learned about pattern and texture earlier in the year.  We finally had time to put together the clay pendant necklaces that they made.  We worked on creating patterns with our beads.

3rd graders have been learning about art that tells a story.  They created Matryoshkas, or nesting dolls.

And finally, Mrs. Robison's class has been a bit ahead of the other classes, so we made spring flower pictures complete with dots of rain coming down.  I love all the layers and colors in their work.

Stepping Stone Mosaics

It was great to see all of you who joined us at Literacy Night yesterday.  In the art room we were creating mosiac stepping stone tiles to be placed outside the school by the library windows.  We used broken pieces of dishes and set them in place with cement.  Thanks so much to Mrs. Darnell for helping us with this last night, and thank you to Target for providing grant money to make this project possible.  The mosaics turned out beautifully!

Nature Journals

3rd graders have been creating art related to storyteller.  We created nature journals using upcycled paper bags.  They learned to weave strips of paper bag together to create a book.  We filled the inside with paper and then they made sketches of nature objects inside.  Here are some examples from Mrs. Korth's class:
